Baseball:
Rio Hondo Prep secured third place in the Prep League with Friday’s 8-5 victory over Chadwick.
Jack Van Cleve earned the win after 6 1/3 innings of work.
Van Cleve surrendered four runs (one earned) on four hits.
He walked two and struck out 13 Dolphins’ batters.
Bennett Underwood picked up the save after getting the final two outs.
Stefan Lichtenstein came up on the short end on Friday, going all six innings and allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits.
Lichtenstein walked two and struck out five.
Gio Ortega walked, doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs for the Kares.
Anderson Lang doubled, scored and drove in two runs.
Van Cleve singled, doubled and drove in a run.
Ryan Olivas went 2-for-4 and scored.
Damyan Diaz walked and singled twice.
