Glendora Rebounds From Early Deficit & Earns 6-4 Palomares League Victory at Claremont

Softball:

Glendora took the field for the first time since Wednesday’s 2-0, 14-inning setback to Ayala for the Palomares League championship.

They were struck out 31 times by Emily Leavitt in the loss.

And on Friday, they surrendered three runs in the bottom of the first inning at Claremont.

GHS had the choice to use the fight or flight method and they chose to fight.

The Tartans responded with five runs in the top of the second inning and held on for a 6-4 victory.

Haley Ganino got the win, going three innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits.

Marissa Duarte went a crucial three scoreless innings of relief and allowed four hits.

Bridget Nemeth earned the save with a scoreless seventh.

Nemeth allowed one hit, didn’t walk anyone and struck out one.

Megan Mason got the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits.

Mason walked one and struck out three over her 2 2/3 innings.

Alicia Garcia singled, doubled and scored twice.

Hannah Beyer singled and had two RBIs.

Morgan Coleman singled, scored and had an RBI.

Haley Ganino helped her own cause with an RBI double.

Ashley Waite singled and doubled.

Bridget Nemeth walked, singled and scored in the win.

Ryan Speh had an RBI single for GHS.

Up next: The Tartans close out the regular season on Wednesday and will travel to Alta Loma.

Glendora has earned the Palomares League’s No. 2 seed.
