Baseball:
What a dramatic week it turned out to be for the Glendora High School baseball program.
The Tartans knocked off one of the area’s best programs on Monday (6-1 at Los Altos).
Glendora fell, 3-2, in eight innings at Claremont on Wednesday, in a crucial Palomares League game.
The next day, trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the seventh, they scored five runs and stunned Downey, 5-4, in a nonleague victory.
On Friday, though, Claremont picked up the three-game season sweep of the Tartans, thanks to a 6-5 victory in eight innings.
Jeff Isenhart went the first five innings and allowed five runs (two earned) on eight hits.
He didn’t walk anyone and struck out seven.
Josh VerKuilen, who has been solid for GHS, got the loss. after surrendering just an unearned run in the eighth.
VerKuilen went three innings, and allowed three hits, walked one and struck out five.
Adam Aguirre went 3-for-5, with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs for Claremont.
Louie Allen singled, and scored and Aiden Ross singled, scored and had an RBI.
Justin Gonzalez singled and scored for CHS.
Max Suckley got his second win of the week against GHS.
On Friday, he went four scoreless innings, allowing three hits, walking three and striking out two Glendora batters.
Matt Gonzales walked, singled, scored and had an RBI.
Johnnie Valdez singled, doubled, scored and drove in a run.
Jeff Isenhart singled twice and had an RBI.
Shane Mion and Michael Moses walked and scored.
Charles Peralta singled and scored.
