Baseball:

Baseball is a very humbling game.

Rancho Cucamonga was enjoying a five-game win streak in Baseline League play and after Monday’s 7-2 victory, the Cougars trailed first-place leaders Chino Hills and Damien by two games.

Dylan Goff went the first seven innings for the Eagles, and allowed three runs on seven hits.

Goff walked one and struck out three.

RCHS got solo home runs from Jacob McCombs, Jayden Lopez and Michael Woodward in the top of the fourth inning, but that was all the Cougars would muster offensively.

Garrett Mnich was credited with the win after going a perfect top of the eighth inning, including a pair of strikeouts.

Jake Brown singled twice for Rancho Cucamonga.

And Brown went the first five innings, allowing three runs on five hits.

He walked three and struck out five Eagles’ batters.

Nicholas Sanchez was stuck with the loss, allowing the eighth-inning run.

In all, Sanchez went 2 1/3 innings, and he gave up the one run on three hits.

He walked one and struck out a pair.

Kaedon Mas had the walk-off hit for the Eagles.
