Hofmeyer & Hart Combine on 3-Hit Shutout; Chino Hills Defeats Damien, 5-0, & Jumps into 1st-Place Tie w/Spartans

Baseball:

Chino Hills caught Damien atop the Baseline League standings after its 5-0 victory on Monday.

Braden Hofmeyer and Zach Hart combined on a three-hit shutout.

Hofmeyer went four innings, scattered three hits, didn’t walk anyone and struck out six.

Hart gave the Huskies three perfect innings of relief and struck out one Spartans’ batter.

Alec Beck, Kaden Moeller and Christian Grino had one single apiece to account for the Damien offense.

Beck was charged with the loss after allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits over his 5 1/3 innings.

He walked four and struck out one.

Seth Sumner went 2/3 of an inning, and gave up one run on one hit.

Sumner didn’t walk anyone and struck out two CHHS batters.

Luke Strong singled, scored and had an RBI.

Ryker Billingsley had an RBI base hit and Tyler Stull walked, singled, scored and had an RBI.

Cole Nachreiner singled and scored.

Bobby Johnson singled, scored and had an RBI.

Ian Bateman walked, singled, drove in a run and scored in the win.
