Editors Note: Chino Hills doesn’t post their roster or stats online, so we were only able to write about the Rancho Cucamonga side.

Baseball:

For a program that started the 2021 season 12-3, the last 11 days must have felt like a lifetime.

The Cougars last win was a three-run victory over Los Osos on April 26, in their Baseline League opener.

RCHS dropped the last two of a three-game series with the Grizzlies and the first two this week against a Chino Hills squad that was on a school-record 10-game win streak.

With its deep roster, it was just a matter of time before Rancho Cucamonga was going to bust out, and that day was Friday.

RCHS pounded out a 12-3 victory.

Nicholas Cataldo got the win, going five innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits.

Cataldo didn’t walk anyone and struck out four.

Justin Hines went two scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits and striking out one CHHS batter.

Offensively, Jake Brown walked three times, had an RBI triple and scored four runs.

Jacob Billings walked twice, singled and scored three times.

Jacob McCombs scored once and drove in four runs.

Wilson Dunn went 2-for-4 and scored, and Michael Woodward doubled.

Aaron Whobrey singled, tripled and drove in two runs.

Up next: Rancho Cucamonga will travel to Upland on Monday for the first of three with the Highlanders.
