The Cubs edged St. Francis, 4-3, in a Mission League contest on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Joey Frey got the win for Loyola.
Frey went five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits.
He walked three and struck out seven.
Tino Valdez got the final two outs to secure the save.
Holden Deitch had an RBI double and Izak Arce walked, singled and scored for the Golden Knights.
Diego Robles had an RBI base hit and Luke Garrity walked twice and scored
Tommy Italia walked and had an RBI, and Luke Crawshaw singled on Wednesday.
Robbie Rivera was stuck with the loss, after allowing four unearned runs on one hit and a walk in the fifth inning.
Jackson Shea went 2-for-3, with a double and two RBIs.
Ethan Haggarty singled twice, scored and drove in two runs.
Luca DiPaolo singled and scored for the Cubs, and Nick Valdez walked and scored.
Lane Johnson singled and Tino Valdez scored once in the win.
Up next: The Cubs and Golden Knights will close out their three-game series on Friday at the Glendale Sports Complex.
