Just one week ago today, the South Hills baseball program was 9-3 and they had won five of their last six games.
Fast forward seven days, and SHHS dropped a 2-1, Hacienda League opening game to their visitors from Walnut.
South Hills now finds itself on a three-game losing streak.
Mattew Yanez got the loss after allowing two first-inning runs on four hits.
Sterling Patick would provide six innings of scoreless relief.
He allowed three hits, walked three and struck out six Mustangs’ batters.
Kyle Calzadiaz singled, doubled and scored.
Ayden Piedad and Kevin Rubio had one RBI apiece for Walnut.
Jojo Russo went the distance, allowing one run on four hits.
Ethan Lee’s sac fly scored Yanez for the lone Huskies run on Tuesday.
Jeremiah Sibrian, Evan Burns, Andrew Ramirez and Patick had one single apiece to account for the South Hills offense.
Up next: The Huskies will travel to Walnut on Thursday.
First pitch is slated for 3:15.
