Baseball:

The only thing better than opening league play with a victory is to get that win on the road.

And that’s exactly what Rancho Cucamonga did on Monday.

The Cougars got a solid outing from two pitchers and defeated Los Osos, 5-2, in the Baseline League opener.

Jacob Billings went six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits.

He didn’t walk anyone and struck out four.

Nicolas Sanchez went a scoreless seventh to secure the save.

Drake Job singled and scored for Los Osos.

Evan Tiemann and Greg Chodos had RBI base hits for the Grizzlies.

Blake Boggs was stuck with the loss.

Boggs allowed five runs on seven hits over his four innings of work.

He walked two and struck out four.

Jacob Billings helped his own cause by walking and also hitting a two-run home run in the first inning.

Jake Brown went 2-for-4, and drove in a pair of runs.

Bradyn France and Jayden Lopez each singled and scored.

Jacob McCombs went 3-for-4 in the win.

Up next: Los Osos will travel to RCHS on Wednesday in the second of three games this week with two Cougars.
