Northview had to wait six days to get the sour taste of the Rancho Cucamonga loss out of their collective mouth.

So, the Vikings got five runs early and rode the arms of Ethan Galindo, Andrew Baltazar and Dean Curley to a 5-4 victory over Upland.

Galindo went the first two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.

He walked two and struck out one.

Baltazar surrendered one run on two hits over the next two innings.

He walked one and struck out one Upland batter.

The Highlanders got to Matt Pachuca for three runs on five hits in 1/3 of an inning.

But Dean Curley shut Upland down with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the save.

Curley allowed one hit, didn’t walk anyone and struck out four.

Offensively, Gilbert Lopez was the star of the game.

Lopez walked, singled twice, scored and drove in a game-high four runs.

Nick Peoples singled and scored a pair of runs and Luke Bauer walked, singled and scored.

Ivan Barragan walked and had an RBI base hit.

Up next: Northview will travel to Colony on Thursday.
