Baseball:

La Salle continued its 2021 road tour (thanks to COVID-19) some 71 miles from home on Saturday.

But the Lancers didn’t mind the drive home after holding off Adelanto, 3-2.

Jacob Escamilla got the start and went three innings.

The La Salle sophomore allowed one run on one hit and he struck out four.

Valentino Gomez closed out the victory.

Gomez went the final four innings, allowing one run on one hit and he struck out three Adelanto batters.

Adrian Beltre Junior went 2-for-3, and his fourth-inning base hit drove in Tyler Cwiak with that turned out to be the game winning run.

Cwiak was 1-for-2 with a double.

Evan Nahra went 2-for-2, including a run and RBI.

Bradley Zantenson had an RBI base hit and Escamilla singled in Saturday’s victory.

For those who don’t know, Arcadia County Park doesn’t allow La Salle to practice or play on that field after shutting it down in 2020.

So first-year Lancers’ coach Mike Solar has had to put together a road-only schedule thus far.

Up next: La Salle will head to San Marino on Thursday.

First pitch is set for 3:30.
