Baseball:

What are the odds that Marshall Fundamental was going to mount an epic comeback in the top of the seventh inning in their Mission Valley League opener at Gabrielino?

Dylan Goodrich had shut the Eagles out through the first six innings, and of the 18 batters he retired, 15 of them were via strikeout.

Apparently it didn’t faze Marshall Fundamental, because they rallied for 10 seventh-inning runs and defeated Gabrielino, 10-3.

Goodrich got the loss despite six brilliant innings.

He was charged with 10 runs (seven earned) on eight hits.

Goodrich walked three and struck out 15.

Alex Chew walked, singled, scored and drove in three runs.

Travis Delgado walked, had an RBI double and scored.

Nick Chew doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs.

Devan Kelly went 2-for-3, with an RBI and run scored.

Gabe Mabee had an RBI base hit.

Sam Karp walked, singled and scored twice.

Wes Pendleton singled and drove in a pair of runs.

Travis Delgado went four scoreless innings, allowing a pair of hits, walking three and striking out 10 Gabrielino batters.

Sam Karp was charged with three unearned runs on three hits in the fifth inning.

And Gabe Mabee went two scoreless for Marshall.

He allowed just one hit, didn’t walk anyone and struck out two.

Up next: The Eagles will host El Monte on Wednesday.
