Rancho Cucamonga Strikes Late Again; Cougars Defeat Chaparral, 5-1, on Saturday, Extend Win Streak to 5 Games

If you’ve followed the 2021 Rancho Cucamonga baseball program thus far, there are a few things that really stand out.

The Cougars have a lot of players, many of their athletes are physically imposing and they score a lot of runs late in games.

RCHS did that again on Saturday.

With the game tied at 1-1, the Cougars scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning and went on to a 5-1 victory.

Chris Lopez got the loss for the Pumas.

Lopez allowed five runs on five hits over his five innings of work.

He walked four and struck out two.

Jake Brown singled and scored for RCHS.

Jacob Billings had an RBI double.

Bradyn France walked twice and scored.

Wilson Dunn singled and scored.

Jacob McCombs walked, singled and scored.

Aaron Whobrey walked with the bases loaded for an RBI and scored once.

And Eddie Rocha had an RBI single.

Dylan Escobar went four innings and allowed one run on two hits.

He walked two and struck out three.

Drew Copelan got the win, going 1 2/3 innings without allowing a run or hit.

Dakota Gray closed out Chaparral with a scoreless seventh inning.

Chris Lopez walked twice and scored for Chaparral.

And Jason Mannino singled twice and drove in the Pumas lone run.
