You know it’s not your day when three pitchers combine on a two-hitter and you still lose.

But that is what happened Saturday when Marshall Fundamental defeated Rio Hondo Prep, 2-1.

The Eagles got a pair of seventh inning runs to claim victory.

Jack Van Cleve went the first three innings, allowing one hit, walking one and striking out three.

Ryan McCulloch went 3 2/3 innings for RHP and was charged with two unearned runs.

The seventh inning happened something like this: Tylr Kennedy hit a ground ball to third base, and the Kares’ third baseman made a throwing error, which allowed Caleb Delgado to score from third base, and the game was tied at 1-1.

Also, due to the throwing error down the right field line, Kennedy was able to make it to third.

With two outs and a runner on third, Jacob Hernandez hit a ground ball between the 5-6 hole, and the shortstop couldn’t come up with the play, so Hernandez got a walk-off RBI single.

Travis Delgado and Alex Chew went two scoreless innings apiece for the Eagles.

Jacob Hernandez allowed one run on three hits over his two innings of work.

And Sam Karp got the win after going a perfect seventh inning, including two strikeouts.

Jonathan Guerrero singled and scored for RHP and Trevor Scott had an RBI double for the Kares.
