DeMarco, Hisey & Ruiz Keep Whittier Christian Bats in Check; Minutemen Open League W/6-2 Road Victory

Maranatha got a solid effort on the mound from three pitchers in Friday’s 6-2, Olympic League opening victory at Whittier Christian.

Patrick DeMarco got the win for MHS.

He went the first 2 2/3 innings, and allowed no runs and one hit.

DeMarco walked three and struck out three WCHS batters.

Jackson Hisey allowed two runs on two hits and struck out five in 3 1/3 innings of work, and Daniel Ruiz closed out the victory with a perfect seventh inning, including all three outs via strikeout.

Ryan Helvin got stuck with the loss.

Helvin surrendered five runs on six hits over his 3 2/3 innings of work.

He walked five and struck out three MHS batters.

Ryan Mittelman walked three times and the one time he got something to hit, Mittelman went yard.

Nick Cook went 2-for-4, scored once and drove in three runs.

Nick Sartor singled twice and scored.

Ben Staub was walked three times and he scored a run.

Daniel Ruiz walked twice, singled and scored a pair of runs.
