Sammy Morales’ Arm & Luca DiPaolo’s Bat Lead Loyola to 2-1 Victory Over St. Paul

For the second day in a row, the Loyola baseball program got a terrific outing on the mound from its starting pitcher.

And for the second day in a row, the Cubs were victorious.

This time, it was a 2-1 victory over St. Paul.

Sammy Morales went six solid innings to earn the win.

Morales allowed one run on six hits.

He didn’t walk a batter and struck out six.

Nick Goethals secured the save with a perfect seventh inning of relief.

Goethals got two of the three outs via strikeout.

Jimmy Salas singled twice and drove in the Swordsmen’s only run.

Adam Bravo collected two hits in the loss.

Ethan Moran was saddled with the loss.

Moran allowed two runs on four hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.

He walked three and struck out five Cubs’ batters.

Luca DiPaolo walked, singled and hit a solo home run.

Lane Johnson walked and scored the Cubs other run.

Ethan Haggarty and Nico Morales both walked and singled on Wednesday.
