Baseball:
Etiwanda dropped its first game of the 2021 season (10-2 versus Simi Valley) on Saturday.
And you had to feel like the Eagles’ bats were going to take it out on their next opponent.
That is precisely what happened on Tuesday.
Etiwanda pounded Walnut pitching in a 17-4, mercy-rule victory in six innings.
Kyle Calzadiaz allowed five runs on two hits and four walks in just 1 1/3 innings to get stuck with the loss.
Alfredo Capacete singled, hit a grand slam and drove in five runs.
Armando Briseno singled, doubled, tripled, scored twice and finished with seven RBIs.
Austen Roellig walked four times, singled, drove in a pair of runs and scored.
Jack Holman walked three times and had an RBI.
Abraham Zapata singled, scored and drove in one run.
Eric Valles singled, doubled, had an RBI and scored three runs.
Kaedon Mas singled and scored two runs and Yahir Ramirez singled and scored.
Jorge Solares went the first three innings to get the win for the Eagles.
He allowed a pair of unearned runs on two hits, walking four and fanning four.
Landon Milius finished off the Mustangs with three innings of relief.
He surrendered two runs on three hits.
Milius didn’t walk anyone and struck out three Walnut batters.
Cesar Chavez walked, tripled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Aiden Piedad doubled and scored for the Mustangs.
