Baseball:

How would Ayala bounce back from its first loss since 2019?

Very well.

Two days after an 11-2 setback at Gahr, the Bulldogs were back to being the Bulldogs.

Ayala defeated La Mirada, 10-1, on Saturday morning, and out-hit the Matadores, 12-2.

Jeremiah Sotelo was stuck with the loss.

He went 3 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits.

Sotelo walked one and fanned three.

The Bulldogs got six more from Vincent Segovia on six hits.

Cole Koniarsky walked, singled, homered, scored twice and drove in three runs.

Marcus Galvan singled, doubled, scored and had an RBI.

Troy McCain doubled and scored.

Jacob Badawii, literally 12 hours after scoring four TD’s in a victory over Charter Oak, went 2-for-3, with three RBIs and he scored once.

Ty Borgogno singled twice, drove in a pair of runs and scored once.

Mate0 Matthews went 2-for-4, and Luke Solis singled and scored.

Nathan Aldaz, Damien Delgadillo and Anthony Dominguez scored one run apiece in the win.

Andreas Pasillas had a terrific outing.

Pasillas went six innings, allowing just an unearned run on two hits.

Nico Masucci contributed a perfect seventh inning of relief, including two strikeouts.

Andrew Pyle and Aidan Haller singled and accounted for La Mirada’s offense on Saturday.

Quotable:

Ayala coach, Chris Vogt: “We bounced back well. Guys did a great job flushing the game and getting back to our game. Andres was sharp and really commanded several pitches throughout the game.”
