In a battle of two young ladies just beginning their high school careers, West Covina freshman Erica Lopez came out on top.
Lopez went the distance in the Bulldogs 8-1 victory over Monrovia.
She allowed just one run on four hits and fanned a pair.
Evelyn Talavera went 2-for-3, and scored a run.
Abby Perez singled and had the lone Wildcats RBI on Thursday.
Angelica Oseguera, also a freshman, went the distance, allowing eight runs (two earned) on eight hits.
She didn’t walk a batter and fanned four.
Olivia Montoya-Lopez singled, doubled twice and drove in two runs.
Lauren Romero added two singles and an RBI.
Arianna Urias singled, tripled and drove in a run.
Ashley Rodriguez collected two base hits in the win.
