Football:
Glendora picked up Sierra League victory No. 1 of the 2024 season on Thursday evening.
And it wasn’t close.
GHS defeated their visitors from Claremont, 35-6, at Citrus College.
The Tartans led 35-0 at the break, and the entire second half was played with a running clock.
Austin Coronado set the tone early.
Coronado mowed his way through a number of CHS defenders, and he rumbled his way into the west end zone to give Glendora an early 7-0 lead.
Shortly thereafter, Coronado recovered a loose ball while on defense, and he sprinted in for a 40-yard TD, and a 14-0 advantage for the boys in red.
Nazir McGlothen had TD runs of 2 and 22 yards.
And Tim Johnson caught a 25-yard TD pass from freshman, Sebastian Lawrence.
The Wolfpack finally got on the board in the third quarter.
Doug Yegge caught a 16-yard TD pass from Jerred Pocock.
Glendora sophomore, Brandon Coronado, made his presence felt with this stick of a Claremont receiver.
Up next: The Tartans travel to Los Osos next Friday.
The Grizzlies fell at Bonita, 34-20, on Thursday.
