After a 54-0 victory in week zero at La Puente, Covina met up with Maranatha on Thursday night at Charter Oak.

And things looked good early on, as the Colts took a 14-0 lead.

However, the Minutemen rallied and scored 24 unanswered points in the first half to take a 24-14 lead into the break.

After three-plus hours of airing the ball out and a ton of combined turnovers, MHS headed home to Pasadena with a 30-22 victory and evened their season record at 1-1.

Maranatha’s Arthur Moreno completed 19-of-40 for four TDs.

Moreno also tossed three picks.

George Pamilton III had 10 catches for 88 yards and two scores.

Luke Hanrahan had three receptions for 90 yards and a pair of TDs.

On defense, Pamilton had two interceptions, Hanrahan had one INT, as did linebacker Isaiah O’Neal.

Middle linebacker Nick Goodman had three sacks and the Minutemen recovered two onside kicks in the second quarter.

Covina’s Travis Sartin ran the opening kickoff back 83 yards for a touchdown.

Ethan Hayes hit Drew Boyne on an 83-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, which gave the Colts a 14-0 lead.

Up next: MHS and CHS will both be in action next Friday.

Maranatha hosts Western Christian and Covina travels to Montclair.
