Baseball:
If there was a guess as to which program would knock Burbank out of contention for a Pacific League title, Muir probably wouldn’t have been on the shortlist.
However, the Mustangs picked up the two-game sweep thanks to scores of 2-1 back on March 10th, and 5-0, on Saturday.
Conrad Hunziker IV tossed a one-hit shutout.
Hunziker issued one walk and registered 11 strikeouts.
He got eight of the nine BHS starters at least once on strikes, and he fanned three Bulldogs twice.
Robert Snyder had the lone hit, and Colby Bette drew the one walk for Burbank.
Kalem Valencia got the loss after allowing five runs on five hits over five innings.
Valencia issued a pair of walks and struck out five Muir batters.
Ezekiel Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Fletcher Paddock walked, singled and scored.
Bryant Soriano went 2-for-3 with a run and one RBI.
Donovan Williams walked and scored, and Arturo Ayers scored one run for MHS.
Kahlil Rishwain was hit by pitch twice, scored and had one RBI.
Max Huizar singled and Hunziker helped his own cause with a single and a sac fly to drive in a run.
Up next: The Mustangs travel to Glendale (3-15, 0-8) on Tuesday at 3:45 for the first of a two-game Pacific League series with the Nitros.
