West Covina split its two-game Valle Vista League series with Northview.
The Bulldogs edged the visiting Vikings, 2-1, in a five-inning contest.
Max Murillo went all five innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits.
Murillo walked two and fanned five NHS batters.
Northview had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the first inning, however, a Fernando Casas sac fly was all they would get.
Jayden Chagollan scored the Vikings’ lone run after reaching base on an error.
Michael Alonso doubled, and Michael Mendoza singled for NHS.
Evan Bustamante was stuck with the loss after surrendering two runs on seven hits over four innings.
Bustamante issued one walk and registered four strikeouts.
Michael Gutierrez had an RBI single in the bottom of the second to tie the game at 1-1.
Austin Nguyen singled and he drove in a run on a ground out.
Marciano Ramirez doubled.
Murillo walked, singled and scored.
Andrew Maldonado singled and scored.
Griffey Moncada and Marcus Mayweather had one single apiece.
Up next: The Vikings face Century (12-4) tonight (Saturday) at 7.
The Bulldogs battle South Torrance this morning at 10 at Century High School.
