Baseball:
The dominance that is the Ayala baseball program in Palomares League play was on display yet again.
The Bulldogs improved to 8-0 after Thursday’s 10-0 victory over their visitors from Diamond Bar.
Easton Sarmiento tossed a no-hitter.
The Bulldogs’ sophomore issued a pair of walks and registered 10 strikeouts.
Sarmiento needed 84 pitches to finish what he started, and 53 were strikes.
Through the first eight league games, AHS has outscored Glendora, Walnut and Diamond Bar by a combined margin of 89-9.
And Ayala has scored 10 runs or more in seven of those eight games.
After getting two runs on two hits and a walk off Dominic Tortorelli in two innings, the Bulldogs dropped the hammer on Ethan McNeil.
McNeil was charged with nine runs on eight hits and four walks over 3 2/3 innings.
Caleb Trugman helped his fellow pitcher (Sarmiento) with a two-run HR.
Jaden Valenzuela walked, singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs from the leadoff spot.
Jonah Boyd had an RBI double, drove in another on a sac fly and scored two runs.
Aiden Erlandsen had an RBI single, sac fly, and he scored one run.
Brody Gomez walked, singled and scored.
Elijah Duarte went 3-for-4 with one run and two RBIs.
Dylan Wood walked, doubled, scored twice and drove in one run.
Codey Brown singled in a run in the sixth inning.
Easton doubled once in Thursday’s win.
