Baseball:
Marshall Fundamental opened the 2025 season in impressive form.
The Eagles cruised to a 7-1 victory over Flintridge Prep.
Marshall out-hit Prep, 8-2.
Caleb Thatcher earned the win after going four innings and allowing one run on two hits.
Thatcher didn’t issue a walk and struck out six.
Michael Gerst, Nate Callaway and Trevor Lain provided one scoreless and hitless inning in relief, respectively.
Will Grable hit a solo HR in the top of the first inning.
And Calvin Chen singled to account for the rest of the FP offense.
Rowan Schaeffer went four innings for the Wolves, and he allowed three runs on five hits.
Schaeffer issued one walk and fanned a pair of Marshall batters.
Christopher Chino was touched up for four runs (two earned) on three hits over two innings.
Chino walked one and recorded one strikeout.
Nate Callaway went 2-for-3 with a two-run HR, and a solo shot.
He scored a pair of runs, and Callaway drove in four.
Thatcher helped his own cause with two singles, a triple, two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Trevor Lain singled and scored.
Adan Castro walked and singled.
Ben Muro walked and scored.
Ryan Pandullo singled.
And Elijah Lain scored one run for Marshall.
Up next: The Eagles will host Verdugo Hills on Friday at 3.
