Mayfair spoiled Monrovia’s season opener with a 5-2 victory over the Wildcats.
Spencer Cummins went the distance, and he allowed two runs on four hits to earn the win.
Cummins issued a pair of walks, and he struck out four Monrovia batters.
Kaleb Ellison walked, and he hit a solo HR in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Micah Maljian singled and scored.
Josh Griffiths was hit-by-pitch, and he gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead when he singled home Maljian in the first inning.
Griffiths (2) and Maljian (1) combined to steal three bases.
Lucas Martinez had one hit for the boys in green.
Alex Myers was saddled with the loss after allowing three unearned runs on three hits over four innings.
Myers walked two and fanned a pair of Mayfair batters.
The Monsoons got to James Quesenbery for two runs on three hits over one inning.
He walked and struck out one batter apiece.
Sutton Powers provided two scoreless innings in relief.
Powers allowed two hits, issued one walk and he fanned a pair of Monsoons.
Nolan Fox went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs.
Aidan Sullivan singled three times, drove in one and scored a pair of runs.
Tyler Brim went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Cummins helped his own cause with an RBI groundout in the top of the third inning.
