Chino Hills opened the 2025 season by dominating Chino, 7-1, on Monday.
CHHS out-hit CHS, 11-5.
Grant Kuhns Vasquez got the loss after allowing three runs on five hits over four innings.
He didn’t issue a walk and struck out a pair of Huskies.
Xiovany Ochoa was touched up for four runs (three earned) on four hits and a walk in two innings of work.
Josh Mendez went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Jacob Jimenez doubled and hit a solo home run.
Andrew Baldomino went 2-for-4 and scored.
Jackson Aguayo walked, had an RBI double and scored.
Anthony Medyn, Brody Buoncristiani and Frankie Brazil had one single and one RBI apiece in Monday’s win.
Max Zaldivar earned the win after allowing an unearned run on four hits over four innings.
Zaldivar walked one and fanned three Cowboys.
Buoncristiani provided three scoreless innings of relief and surrendered just one hit.
Buoncristiani issued a pair of walks and struck out five.
The Cowboys lone run came on a ground out off the bat of Achilles Barroso in the bottom of the second inning.
Caleb Carrillo had two of Chino’s five hits.
Joseph Granados doubled, while Matthew Gomez and Xiovany Ochoa singled.
Up next: CHHS will host Don Lugo on Thursday at 3.
