Baseball:
La Salle opened the 2025 season with an impressive 3-0 victory over Damien at the South Hills (Pizza Chalet) Tournament.
Andrew Luna went four scoreless innings to earn the win.
Luna allowed three hits, walked three and struck out five Damien batters.
Frane Flores earned the save with three scoreless innings in relief.
Flores surrendered a pair of hits, didn’t issue a walk, and he fanned a pair of Spartans.
Bobby Logue singled and doubled for DHS.
Brady Bickham, Gino Tarzia and Grant Corder had one hit apiece.
Rudy O’Dell got the loss in spite of allowing just one run on four hits over four innings.
O’Dell didn’t issue a walk, and he struck out five La Salle batters.
Ryan Wentworth was charged with two runs (one earned) on three hits over his three innings of work.
Wentworth walked one and fanned one.
Chris Cardenas singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs.
Isaiah Romero gave La Salle a 1-0 lead with his RBI single in the top of the fourth inning.
Andrew Klein walked and singled, while Peter Callihan and Travis Ochoa had one single apiece in Monday’s win.
Drew Ward doubled and scored.
Up next: La Salle will battle South Hills on Wednesday, and Damien travels to Walnut on Thursday.
