For all intents and purposes, PCC put Saturday’s American-Pacific Conference opener to bed at halftime.

The Lancers took a 26-3 lead into the break, and they cruised to a 35-16 victory over visiting Santa Monica.

PCC is now 6-0.

The game was originally slated to take place in Santa Monica, but a fatal campus shooting forced a change of venue.

Micah Mendoza anchored the Lancers’ ground game with 101 yards on 19 carries.

That included TD runs of 1 and 5 yards.

Mohammad Maali had a pair of 3-yard TD runs, and he finished with 45 yards on 12 carries.

PCC had a 288-163 advantage in rushing yards, and all five TDs came via the ground.

PHS grad Mekhi “Flip” Fox had an 80-yard TD run with 7:56 to play in the first half, and it extended the Lancers’ lead to 26-3.
