College Baseball:
Citrus College took a six-run lead in the top of the fifth in Tuesday’s Western State (South) Conference game at West Los Angeles College.
The last-place Wildcats would score five of the game’s final six runs, but the Owls held on for a 9-7 victory.
Tuesday’s win snapped a seven-game losing streak.
The game featured a combined 16 runs, 25 hits, seven pitchers and five errors.
Justin Hurst got the loss after allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits over his five innings.
Hurst walked three and fanned three Citrus batters.
Sean Rooney went 3-for-5, with a double and four RBIs.
Jaden St. Cyr singled three times and scored.
Nathan Hellein singled, tripled, scored twice and drove in one run.
Connor Green went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Mario Catalan walked, singled and scored.
Chase Bernal drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.
Jason Armendariz walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.
Alex Hernandez singled and had an RBI ground out.
Michael Reyes and Jordan Quintero walked and scored one run apiece.
Aiden Taylor went 4 2/3 innings for Citrus and he allowed two runs on seven hits.
Taylor didn’t issue a walk and he registered four strikeouts.
Reece Harney was credited with the win after going two innings and allowing two runs on four hits.
Harney didn’t walk a batter and struck out three.
Justin Strickland went 4-for-5, including a pair of doubles, one run and two RBIs.
Pa’i-Johnson Tufugafale singled twice, scored and had one RBI.
Jonathan Olmedo singled and scored a pair of runs.
Andre Nolasco doubled and scored.
Michael Hernandez went 2-for-4, with a walk, run and one RBI.
Elijah Fountain drove in a run on a sac fly and walked with the bases loaded.
Tristan Gallegos walked and scored.
Luis Camacho walked and singled.
