College Baseball:
What could be the best possible response from PCC after dropping last week’s SCC series to Rio Hondo College?
To finish off a sweep of Cerritos.
And that’s what they did in Monday’s makeup game.
PCC got a solid effort on the mound from Kyle Noell in a 10-4 victory at Cerritos.
The Lancers were out-hit 15-7, but the bottom line is always ‘scoreboard.’
Noell went six innings and allowed just one run on nine hits.
He didn’t issue a walk and struck out four.
Rider Gardner earned a state-best eighth save after scoreless eighth and ninth innings in relief.
Gardner allowed a pair of hits, didn’t walk anyone and had one strikeout.
Andy Vega had two doubles and drove in a pair of runs.
Dean Ormonde went 4-for-4 with a double, run and RBI.
AJ Gonzalez singled, doubled and scored twice.
Cade Sonoqui was saddled with the loss after surrendering two runs (one) earned on two hits and four walks.
Tommy Castillo walked, singled, hit a solo and two-run HR, scored three runs and had three RBIs.
Jake Trabbie doubled, tripled, drove in three and scored twice.
Aryonis Harrison walked, singled and scored.
Jakob Guardado walked twice and had an RBI double.
Jack Esguerra walked twice and scored three runs.
Toshiki Kuriya got walked five times in Monday’s win.
