Baseball:
Damien jumped on Rancho Cucamonga for five first-inning runs, and the Spartans cruised to an 8-1 victory.
With Monday’s win, DHS caught RCHS for second place in the Baseline League standings.
The Spartans and Cougars meet up two more times this week before next week’s CIF-SS playoffs.

Ryan Mullan went 6 2/3 innings and allowed just an unearned run on six hits.
Mullan didn’t issue a walk and struck out seven Cougars’ batters.
Garrett Sinfield got the final out via strikeout for the Spartans.
Dylan Maldonado singled and scored for the Cougars.
Tate Shimao collected two of Rancho Cucamonga’s seven hits.
Jake Lawson got the loss after allowing five runs on three hits over two innings.
Owen Dunn went 4 1/3 innings, and he surrendered three runs (two earned) on five hits.
Dunn did not issue a walk and struck out a pair of Damien batters.
Christian Grino singled, stole a base, scored and drove in a game-high four runs, including one on a sac fly.
Julian Hines singled, scored and had two RBIs.
Nathan Hellein doubled and scored three runs.
Jason Armendariz singled and scored.
Nikko Paoletto singled and scored twice.
Justin Dunn tripled and Tyler Daley and Jett Hernandez singled in Monday’s win.
Up next: Damien will travel to RCHS on Wednesday for the second of three games this week with the Cougars.
