Going into Tuesday’s match up, La Salle was 3-0 in the Del Rey League play and had not dropped a set in those three matches.

La Salle had a rocky start to the match.
Trailing 1-5 after the first round and with the only win coming from No. 1 singles player, Ryan Chu, the Lancers were still optimistic because each match was competitive.
In the second round, La Salle went 2-1 in both singles and doubles, which got the Lancers to within 5-7 as they headed into the third and final round.
Bishop Montgomery went on to win two of the three remaining doubles sets, which put them within one set of clinching the match.
La Salle won the first of the three remaining singles sets, leaving the match score at 7-9.
With matches to go, La Salle needed a 9-9 finish to tie and force a game count, which they were up by 4 games at this point.
No. 3 singles Anthony Gibbs was up in his final set against the Knights No. 1 player, which quickly turned in favor of the Knights and went into a set tiebreaker.
Down 2-5 quickly in the breaker, it looked done and over for La Salle.
A well constructed point by the #1 player from Bishop set him up for a strong overhead which Gibbs managed to block and barely push it over the Bishop players head to turn the tide of the tie-breaker which Gibbs won 7-5.
The match came down to the final set.
After a hard fought set from Chu, Bishop Montgomery pulled out the set, 6-3, sealing their victory.
The rematch is set for April 7th, where the Lancers have home court advantage, and plan to bring a strong game plan to challenge for the league title.
