Boys Cross Country:
One cross country outlet described Ayala’s second-place team finish at the CIF-SS Division 2 finals as stunning.
And while that may be true to many, Ayala coach Tony DiMarco and his athletes knew this was possible all year.
They hadn’t always lived up to their own expectations, but they sure did on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College.
Mira Costa claimed first place, with a team score of 92, and the Mustangs had runners that finished in spots No. 7, 9, 19, 32, 33, 37 and 59.
Ayala had individual finishers at No. 2, 20, 21, 28, 47, 94 and 97 to clinch second place.
Mason Ma had an impressive second-place effort for the Bulldogs program.
Ma finished the course with a time of 15:00.0
That was just one back of Dana Hills senior Jai Dawson, who crossed the finish line at 14:55.2.
Claremont’s Chris Coles (15:03.5) placed third to help the Wolfpack to a fourth-place showing.
Glendora’s John Sesteaga was fourth at 15:07.3.
