On Tuesday, La Canada entered its showdown at Monrovia with a 4-0 overall record, and 2-0 mark in Rio Hondo League play.
The Spartans, since there was no full season in 2020, are still the defending league champions from 2019.
Coleman Mitchell, though, wanted to do something about that.
And he did.
Mitchell went the distance and allowed just one run on four hits.
He walked one and struck out 14 Spartans’ batters in a 2-1 victory over La Canada.
Monrovia is now 10-2 overall and boast a 4-0 Rio Hondo League record thus far.
