St. Francis came out and throttled visiting St. Paul, 54-0, on Saturday night, and closed out the 2021 spring football season in style.
And as much as the result and highlight-reel plays throughout the contest were memorable, it was the obvious showing of love and unity between the players and coaches that made it a special night for all involved.
Max Garrison, who looked like a man playing amongst boys, finished off his junior campaign with five total touchdowns.
Garrison rushed for 140 yards on 10 carries and that included three TD runs.
But he wasn’t done there.
Garrison caught a pair of TD passes from sophomore quarterback Jack Jacobs, but even Jacobs himself would tell you that Garrison did most of the work.
Words can’t really describe how superior Max’s catch and run were, so here’s the video to judge for yourself.
Bryson Reeves scored twice and had a pair of interceptions in his final game on Friedman Field and in Jim Bonds Stadium.
After the game ended, and just after the coaches addressed the players, Reeves walked out of the south end zone and kneeled on the five yard line or so, and the Utah commit did everything he could not to break down.
This kid is so loved at that school that a number of players saw his reaction and came out to comfort Reeves.
Reeves and the late-great Jim Bonds were very close, so not having his coach there to hug one last time was really difficult for Bryson.
Jacobs ended up throwing for just north of 200 yards and the two scores.
Michael Martin replaced Jacobs late in the game and he scored a rushing touchdown of his own.
St. Francis finished the abbreviated season at 4-2.
The following are game highlights and then interviews with Coach Corcoran, Bryson Reeves, Max Garrison, Evan Jernegan and Jack Jacobs:
