Football:

Ayala didn’t just go 5-0 during the 2021 spring football season, the Bulldogs dominated throughout.

After Friday’s 42-0, season-ending victory at Chino Hills, the Ayala program outscored Temescal Canyon, Bonita, Charter Oak, Glendora and the Huskies by a combined margin of 177-28.

The closest game was a 21-point victory (35-14) over Charter Oak back on April 2.

Ayala coach Arthur Gracia, his staff and players deserve a lot of credit for putting together such a phenomenal run, not to mention doing so through the restrictions of a pandemic.

But back to Friday’s win over crosstown rival, Chino Hills.

Ayala took a 28-0 lead into the half and never looked back.

The Bulldogs offense was balanced as its been all season.

Ayala finished with 337 total yards on offense.

Freshman quarterback, Bryan Wilson, was an efficient 7-of-10 for 173 yards, and he threw for three touchdowns.

Wilson was picked twice, but it didn’t get in the way of Friday’s thumping of Chino Hills.

Andrew Aguilar caught three passes for 74 yards and a TD.

Marcus Monroe had a 40-yard TD reception, and Zach Sosa and Wilson hooked up on a 23-yard score.

Jacob Badawi rushed for 66 yards on nine carries and he caught two passes for 36 yards.

Xavier Crockett had a team-high 72 yards rushing on 11 carries, and that includes a pair of TD runs.

Wilson rushed for 26 yards.

And then comes the Ayala defense.

They held the Huskies to just nine yards of total offense.

Chino Hills completed two passes for 39 yards and were picked twice (by Theodore Woodbury & Andrew Aguilar).

Chandler Carthan continued to make his presence felt with a forced fumble on Friday.

On a side note, the Ayala freshman football team beat Chino Hills, 35-0, and finished the season 5-0.

They outscored their opponents, 156-13.

The future looks bright for the Bulldogs football program.

Quotable:

Ayala senior, Jacob Badawi: “This football season meant the world to me. It was a dream come true after a very rough year thinking I was never going to play high-school sports again. The program was another family during tough times like these ones, and it helped me make some of the best friends and memories I could have ever asked for.”
