La Salle showcased a balanced offense and swarming defense in Friday’s 31-7 Del Rey League beatdown of visiting St. Anthony.

Starting with the offense, Richie Munoz showed shades of what the next two years has to offer.

And it’s going to be special to watch.

Munoz completed 11 of 17 for 253 yards and that included three TD’s.

Munoz threw two picks, neither would hurt the Lancers’ cause on Friday night.

Munoz hit Gio Butteri from 30 yards out to give La Salle an early 6-0, and the two would hook up again from 2-yards out.

But it was more dramatic than that might sound. Here is the video of that score.

Butteri caught three passes for 47 yards and two scores.

St. Anthony would then get as close as 12-7, when the Saints quarterback, Joey Howorko scored from two yards out.

It would be all La Salle from there.

Rashaad Austin carried the ball 24 times for 92 yards, and that included TD runs of 1 and 7 yards.

A star seemed to emerge on Friday night, and it was freshman, David Mysza.

Mysza caught five passes for 133 yards, one of which was a 64-yard TD.

But Mysza wasn’t done there.

The baby-faced assassin had a game-high 12 tackles for the Lancers defense.

Todd Rodriguez had six tackles and a pair of sacks.

Andrew Boecking contributed eight tackles and two sacks.

Isaac Mora picked Howorko off twice and David Vanden Bosch picked the St. Anthony quarterback once.

The culture change that second-year coach Ben Buys and his staff have implemented is both impressive and easily spotted.

The confidence, the discipline, the togetherness and everything it takes to be consistently successful are all in place.

And this class of seniors will always hold a special place in his heart for just that reason.

They were the catalyst, and they believed in Buys and vice versa, and because of that, La Salle football is ascending at a quick pace.

The following are highlights and interviews from Friday’s win:
