Baseball:
Marshall Fundamental improved to 4-0 thanks to a 7-2 victory over El Monte in Mission Valley League play.
Joseph Herrera got the loss for El Monte.
Herrera allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits.
He walked three and struck out two in his four innings of work.
Jacob Hernandez had a big day at the plate.
The Eagles’ leadoff batter walked, singled, doubled, scored three runs and had two RBIs.
Travis Delgado walked, singled, scored and drove in a run.
Sam Karp went 2-for-4, with an RBI.
Nick Chew singled and doubled.
Max Stukel contributed an RBI base hit.
Devan Kelly singled and scored and Ethan Meyers singled and scored twice.
Alex Chew went 2 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on one hit for the Eagles.
He walked five and struck out a pair of Cougars’ batters.
Gabe Mabee got the win after four scoreless and hitless innings.
He walked one and struck out four.
