Football:
Jim Bonds had to be looking down on Friedman Field Saturday night with a lot of pride in his heart.
The program he brilliantly led for 20 years had just been embarrassed a week prior at Loyola.
And in their first home game since his passing, they absolutely throttled Crespi, 63-26.
The Golden Knights had a 49-7 lead before the Celts scored a couple of late touchdowns.
St. Francis quarterback Jack Jacobs had a pair of 1-yard TD runs.
And the Golden Knights’ sophomore hit Evan Jernegan on TD passes of 25, 5, and 30 yards.
Max Garrison rushed for 170 yards, including TD runs of 27 and 13 yards.
Prior to Saturday night, Crespi was 3-0 and the Celts were averaging 40 points per game.
Myles Shannon and Daniel Hara also had a rushing TD apiece in the victory.
St. Francis coach Ted Corcoran, his staff and players should be so proud tonight for the way in which they represented the spirit and legacy of Jim Bonds.
Up next: The Golden Knights will close out the shortened season next Saturday against St. Paul.

St. Francis coach, Ted Corcoran: “Well, last week was very disappointing vs. Loyola. We just didn’t give ourselves a chance to compete. So this week we challenged our kids to play physical football, to play sound fundamental football in all three phases and win the turnover battle. They responded very well and we are very proud of their effort. We practiced hard and the results showed tonight.
It was important also for the kids to come out in our first home game after four on the road to play with the memory of Coach Bonds in our hearts. They played exactly how he would love – they played to win. They played with heart and they played for each other.”
