Baseball:
You don’t want to face the Rancho Cucamonga baseball program the game after a loss.
Last week, after a 4-1 loss at Glendora, the Cougars bounced back and hammered La Quinta, 9-0.
Three days ago, RCHS was on the wrong end of a one-run contest to Roosevelt, and the Cougars took their frustrations out on South Pasadena on Saturday.
Jake Brown and Jacob Billings homered and three Cougars’ pitchers teamed up for a one-hit shutout.
Rancho Cucamonga claimed an 11-0, six-inning, mercy-rule victory.
Dylan Escobar was outstanding in victory.
He earned the win after going the first four innings, allowing just a single, walking two and striking out three.
Mason Schultz and Dakota Gray contributed one scoreless inning of relief apiece.
Nick Schroeder got the loss after allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits in three innings of work.
He walked one and fanned four.
Garrett Haley also got roughed up, surrendering six runs on seven hits.
Jake Brown went 3-for-3, with two singles and he hit the first pitch of the game for a home run.
Jacob Billings hit a three-run shot in the win.
Jayden Lopez singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.
