Baseball:
Rio Hondo Prep suffered a disappointing 5-0 loss on Tuesday at Chadwick.
On Friday, the Kares answered back with an 11-2 victory over the visiting Dolphins.
RHP out-hit Chadwick, 14-4.
CHS scored a pair of first-inning runs and that would be it.
Nate Harwood went the distance to earn the win, and he surrendered a pair of unearned runs on four hits.
Harwood issued four walks and registered four strikeouts.
Gavin Hanson hit a two-run HR in the top of the first.
Aiden Ko walked and singled.
Jack Nguyen and Makai Mah singled and Ian Malishka scored.
Ko got the loss after surrendering three runs on six hits over three innings.
Ko walked one and fanned one RHP batter.
The Kares got to Ian Malishka for seven runs (four earned) on eight hits, two walks and a hit batter.
Brayden Vinton went 3-for-4 with a double, run and two RBIs.
Easton Jara singled, was hit by pitch, doubled and scored two runs.
Yanick Diaz drew three walks and scored a pair of runs.
Benecio Tardino went 2-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Rocco Tardino had a pair of RBIs.
Elijah Gavia had a pair of singles and two RBIs.
Nate Harwood drew a pair of walks and scored.
Landon Scott went 2-for-4 with one run and an RBI.
Nic Harrington doubled in a run and scored.
Julian Rodriguez totaled one hit and an RBI.
Deven Gomez went 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI.
Aiden Delgadillo scored once in Friday’s win.
Up next: The second-place Kares travel to first-place Poly on Tuesday at 3:30.
