Baseball:
Chino Hills outlasted Bonita, 6-4, in nine innings at BHS.
It was a game of two-run innings.
CHHS got two runs in the top of the second, fourth and ninth innings, and BHS scored twice in the first and fifth innings.
Matt Tejeda went four innings and surrendered two runs on six hits.
Tejeda didn’t five a free pass and struck out two Bearcats.
Brody Buoncristiani went the final 4 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit to earn the win.
Buoncristiani didn’t issue a walk and registered six strikeouts.
Gavin Lennig walked, singled and scored.
Joaquin Covarrubias went 2-for-4 with a double, run and an RBI single in the first.
Joaquin Mendez walked, doubled, singled in a run in the first.
Judah Reeve doubled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Sean Compton and Brady Horn singled, and Parker Alexander scored for the Bearcats.
Covarrubias went 4 2/3 innings, and he was charged with four runs (two earned) on six hits.
Covarrubias walked two and fanned a trio of Huskies.
Andrew Jeffers was saddled with the loss after allowing a pair of unearned runs on four walks over 3 1/3 innings.
Taylor Kapadia got the final three outs for BHS, including one via strikeout.
The Huskies scored a pair of ninth-inning runs on an error.
Nick Gonzalez singled and scored.
Taylor Pierson’s RBI single in the fourth gave CHHS its first lead of the game at 3-2.
Jacob Jimenez drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.
Xavier Romero walked and singled.
Rhett Billingsley drew two walks and scored.
Brody Buoncristiani went 2-for-5.
Andrew Baldomino had one single in the win.
Jacob Hernandez and Branden Kim scored once each.
