Badminton:
Just a few shorts months ago, the pandemic put most high school sports in serious jeopardy of having another season canceled.
From almost no season at all, to CIF Champs.
The Arcadia High School Badminton team won its first CIF Championship today.
The Apaches beat Diamond Bar 13-8 in the Open Division (highest level).
Arcadia High had lost to Diamond in the previous two CIF title matches, and Diamond Bar came into the match as the 8-time defending champs.
What’s even more impressive for Arcadia is that the Apaches Badminton team was created just six years ago.
An interesting fact about badminton, it’s the only high school sport that is coed, meaning the boys and girls play at the same time and against each other in mixed doubles.
Congratulations to both Arcadia and Diamond Bar on remarkable seasons.
