Baseball:
Bonita finished off its three-game Palomares League sweep of Walnut on Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats secured victories of 5-3, 8-4 and 8-0 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
Sammy Duenas went six scoreless innings and allowed four hits to earn the win.
Duenas walked one and fanned five WHS batters.
Andrew Sanchez got the final three outs, including one via strikeout.
Adam Lenero had half of Walnut’s four hits.
Jacob Rodriguez and Jonah Linn had the other two.
Isaiah Munoz was charged with six unearned runs on three hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings.
Landen Lambert had an RBI tripled and scored.
Cody White walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Austin Banuelos and Josh Angely walked and scored one run apiece.
Joaquin Covarrubias didn’t have a hit, but he did score and finished with two RBIs, including a sac fly and an RBI ground out.
Gilbert Garcia went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Drew Apodaca and Dominic Garcia scored one run apiece for the Bearcats.
Up next: BHS has the next 10 days off, and then they’ll finish out the 2025 regular season with three-game Palomares League series with third place Glendora, and the league leaders from Ayala.
