Johnson & Garza Combine to Allow One Earned Run in Glendora’s 5-2 Palomares League Victory Over Claremont

Almost three weeks ago, Glendora suffered a three-game Palomares League sweep by a combined margin of 29-4 by first place Ayala.

Fast forward to April 8th, and the Tartans have won four consecutive league games, and they’ve leapfrogged Diamond Bar, Walnut and now sit one-game ahead of Claremont in third place thanks to a 5-2 victory over the Wolfpack in game one of their three-game set.

GHS took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third and they never trailed.

Brayden Johnson went 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits.

Johnson didn’t give any free passes, and he struck out seven.

Santiago Garza went a perfect 1 2/3 innings in relief to earn the save.

Ryan Elias singled doubled and scored.

Reed Miller had an RBI single in the sixth to pull CHS to within 3-2 of the Tartans.

Aiden Leslie singled and scored.

Wyatt Green and Aaron Banfield singled once each for the Wolfpack.

Banfield went all six innings in game one of the series, and he was charged with five runs on nine hits.

Banfield walked two and fanned a pair of GHS batters.

Garza went 2-for-4 with a double, run and one RBI.

Kei Zeits singled twice and scored.

Tyler Olbert singled, doubled and drove in a run.

Mason Danison doubled and scored.

Sebastian Lawrence had an RBI single in the third to extend the lead to 3-0.

Daniel Conness had an RBI single in the sixth.

John Seader scored two runs.

Aaron Jacobsen drew a bases loaded walk to get GHS on the board.
