College Baseball:
Chaffey won its fifth consecutive game to remain alone atop the IEAC standings on Thursday.
The Panthers secured a 12-1 victory out in lovely Barstow.
But it was Ryder Young that stole the show.
Young hit for the cycle.
The former San Dimas stud went 5-for-6 with two singles, a double, triple and home run.
Young scored four runs and finished with three RBIs.
Manuel Barraza’s personal record fell to 0-8 after surrendering six runs on 11 hits over five innings.
Barraza walked three and struck out one Chaffey batter.
Eric Valdivia walked, hit a two-run HR and drove in another run on a sac fly.
Jayden Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a double, run and one RBI.
Ryan Melton walked, singled twice and scored three runs.
Cameron Casado went 2-for-2 with a walk and one run scored.
Dominick Torrez singled twice, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Joe Gilkeson singled and scored.
Derek Almeda drew a pair of walks and had two singles.
AJ Hurtado singled and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Jordan Daniels had an RBI single.
Kaden Daniels singled in the win.
Seth Wrightstone went six innings, and he allowed one unearned run on six hits.
Wrightstone issued one walk and registered eight strikeouts.
Ryan Harrison (1 IP) and Kole Acker (2) combined to go three scoreless innings in relief, and both had one strikeout apiece.
Easton Mitchell went 2-for-2 with a walk and one run.
Cameron Buck singled twice and drove in one run.
Donnell Petite went 2-for-4.
Manuel Barraza and David Aceron singled once each for Barstow.
Up next: The Panthers host the Vikings on Saturday at 1, and they look to secure a three-game sweep.
