Boys Basketball:
Damien has earned itself a spot in the Sunny Hills Basketball Tournament.
After victories over Troy (80-41), Ontario Christian (68-39), Villa Park (70-42), the Spartans faced La Habra in a semifinal round contest.
The writing was on the wall early, as DHS outscored LHHS, 17-0, in the first quarter, and they would cruise to a 64-45 victory.
Nate Garcia led Damien with 26 points and Eli Garner chipped in with 21 points.
Garcia scored 15 of his 26 points in the second half, and Garner hit a pair of 3-pointers.
Acen Jimenez had a monster game for La Habra.
Jimenez scored a game-high 30 points, which included an 11-of-12 effort from the free-throw line, and three 3-pointers.
All nine of Jaedon Anderson’s points came from beyond the 3-point arc.
Up next: The Spartans will battle La Mirada tonight in the tournament final at 7:30 at SHHS.
