Girls Tennis:
Marshall Fundamental has now earned a spot in Wednesday’s semifinal round of the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs.
The Eagles secured a comfortable 12-6 victory over their visitors from Carpinteria.
Per usual, Marshall’s singles players led the way.
Hannah Hagiwara, Diana Kasabian and Elena Edmonds provided eight set wins of the 10 needed to advance.
Hagiwara, again, did not drop a single game in any of her three matches.
Kasabian won by scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0.
Edmonds went 2-1, and her stat sheet read victories of 6-3 and 6-3 after dropping her first match, 3-6.
The Eagles went 4-5 in doubles matches.
Marshall’s No. 1 doubles team of Sierra Bethelmy and Keri Santiago, won two of three matches via scores of 6-2, 6-4 and 0-6.
Lexie Palacios and Sophia Alpuche, who make up the Eagles’ No. 2 tandem, also secured a pair of wins.
Their scores were 1-6, 6-3 and 6-1.
Up next: Marshall will make the 106-mile drive to Santa Barbara to face San Marcos in a semifinal-round contest.
The Royals edged Bishop Montgomery, 10-8, in their quarterfinal match at BMHS in Torrance.
