Flag Football:

Imagine only getting five possessions in a CIF-SS Division 3 playoff game and still winning.

That’s exactly what Etiwanda did on Tuesday evening.

The Eagles held on for a 13-12 victory over their visitors from Chino.

But it wasn’t easy.

Chino scored with 30 seconds to play, and they went for the two-point conversion and the win.

However, Mykayla Weathersby applied a lot of pressure as a blitzer, and the CHS quarterback threw an errant pass.

That allowed the Eagles to take a knee one time and bleed the clock dry.

Offensively, Ellie Fitzpatrick carried the load with 85 rushing yards for EHS.

A pair of star freshman, Mariah Wakumoto and Aliana Rodriguez, had receiving touchdowns for Etiwanda.

Shelby Hong took a majority of the snaps and tossed a TD pass to Rodriquez.

And Casey Vazquez found Wakumoto for the other score.

Chino’s Angelina Gamboa completed 28-of-38 for 269 yards.

Gamboa tossed a pair of TD passes and no interceptions.

Emma Sandoval (6-for-51), Isabella Lane (4-for-53), Chelsea Mulcahy (3-for-47 & 1 TD), and Rylee Valenzuela (5-for-48) combined to catch 18 passes for 199 yards and one score.

Up next: The Eagles will host ML King on Saturday evening at 5.

Box Score:
C: 0-12-(12)
E: 6-7-(13)

Records: Chino (13-9); Etiwanda (20-6)
